What do you do in your role at The Salvation Army?
I currently manage a program called Transitional Services and we work with young people aged 16-25 who are at risk and offer them housing support, lead tenant services, education coordination and continuing care. I also look after a project called Creating Dreams, which is an acknowledgment program for young people, celebrating their achievements.
What is your favourite part about working in youth services for The Salvation Army?
The people I work with and of course the young people we support. Our staff are passionate youth workers and make a difference in young people lives. There is just an amazing feeling to work with like-minded people who strive to offer young people the support they deserve. The fact that they go above and beyond to make a difference in young people’s lives, inspires me.
Why do you do what you do for work?
I want to make a difference, as a youth worker, I have an opportunity to help mentor young people. I’m passionate about offering young people services that ensure that they can have access to what they need to assist them, this means they can get the best out of themselves.
